Biography
Born May, 29 1930 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Educated at the Yerevan State Medical Institute (1949-1955). During the study a number of scientific researches were conducted, one of which was certified by the State. From 1960 to 1963 was a 2-nd Chair of Clinical Surgery and Chair of Radiology at Central Postgraduate Institute on Doctor’s Professional Advancement, Moscow, the Russian Federation.

Outstanding Achievements
- Proposed a number of methods of treating acute pulmonary suppurations, and was the first who performed endobronchial introduction of medicine in the maximal affinity to the center of defeat with the help of transcutaneal and transtracheal catheter, intraaortal long infusion in acute pulmonary injury.
- Was the first in the republic to introduce into medical practice surgical methods of treating bronchial asthma, transsternal and transpericardial interventions on a trachea and bronchial tubes, thymus surgery.
- Was also the first to perform one-stage removal of an echinococcus cyst through one transsternal access.
- First time in Armenia removal of echinococcus cyst from a wall of the right auricle was performed by him
- suggest a echomorphological classification of the liver’s echinococcus for facilitates the choice of method of surgical treatment
- removal of hormonally active tumors of the pancreas
- Has introduced into surgical practice operations in chronic pancreatitis - resections and panreatojejunostomia, in portal hypertensia – mesenterico-caval shunting, lympho-venous anastomosis.
- Collected substantial material on biliary ductus reconstructive operations after jatroginic injury.
- Due to exceptionally wide range of scientific and practical knowledge has become one of leading experts in the field of pulmonary surgery, mediastinum surgery, abdominal surgery, endocrinology, surgery of gullet (for the first time in republic the performed retrosternal plastic of a gullet, operations on esophago-bronchial fistulas, diverticulum with diaphragmal plastic).
